An email series can be anything from a simple welcome series for new subscribers to a full-blown course where each email is a lesson, or anything in between. Free courses delivered through email is a tremendous list-building tool. I break down all the details in this episode, plus, be sure to sign up for my FREE “Design Your Ecourse” challenge!
HOW TO CREATE AN EMAIL SERIES
- 3-5 emails that welcome your new subscriber to your community & provide them with more information about you and your blog, putting emphasis on how it benefits them
- Start with a short introductory email, and possibly deliver your freebie, in the first email that sends immediately
Ideas for subsequent emails:
- share highlights from each blog category in individual emails
- Share different aspects of your business
- Invite them to your Facebook group
Developing a course delivered through email:
- Great list-building tools
- Can be used as a promotion for a paid product or service
- Can be doing as a joint venture with a collaborator
- Each lesson is an email
- The first email sends immediately after someone signs up for your free course and introduces them to the content
- Deliver a quick win right away
- Give them links to share this free course on social media
- Create graphics specifically for this free course, including a custom email header (looks more professional)
- Don’t let it go for too long – depending on the goal of your course, 5-10 days is ideal, with each email sending 1 day apart, typically
- Include CTAs in each email
How to set it up:
- Outline your goal, then break down this end goal into bite-sized, actionable steps
- Write out the text of each email in order. I use Google Docs.
- Create a landing page for people to opt into this free course, as well as graphics you can share on social media
- Invite your existing list to opt in. ConvertKit? Use a link trigger for one-click opt-in.
- Each email in the series should include a quick-win, and each lesson builds upon the previous lesson, all coming together to create the end goal for the course.
- Final email, sent a couple days after the last lesson, ask for testimonials and feedback
